Required Rentals
Required to Rent: Linens & Tableware
Since our grounds are such a unique setting with countless built-in decor facets, you can keep your decor investments as minimal as you'd like! Linens play a principle role in your event's look and feel, and we love colors that complement the natural browns, jet blacks, and purple-hued grey walls of our space.
Vendors: The Cookery works with American Party Rentals in Durham, who offers countless color, style and texture options. If you prefer, you are more than welcome to rent linens and tableware from any other trusted linen rental company.
If you are planning on having dancing at your event, you will need to install a dance floor!
American Party Rentals has dance floors that fit beautifully in our space, and protect guests from our polished concrete floors. Dance floors are available for rent in 3’ x 3’ and 4' x 4' squares so the size can easily be altered depending on your dancing needs.

Chalk Board Display
Our magnetic chalk board in the Front Room is a perfect place for a grand display! We have seen lots of creative uses from magnetic art to banners to custom chalk artwork.
The dimensions for this space is 6ft 8in tall and 8ft wide. If you would like to create your own custom chalk work we require you use the “Zig Posterman Wet-Wipe” marker. You can buy this marker from us for $12. We have a ladder on-site that can be retrieved for you by asking your event captain day-of.

Photo Booths & More
Companies designed to capture special moments and turn them into lasting memories. Whether you want instant prints or an all-digital experience, a photo booth can add excitement to any event! But the fun doesn’t have to stop there. Provide your guests with another unique take away - a custom, on-demand poem typed on a vintage typewriter from a giant fox. Whether you’re hosting a large corporate crowd or your next fundraiser, you can also bring an authentic casino experience to your guests with Casino Party Aces.

Music & Sound
A DJ or band will pace your event and initiate transitions such as when it is time to eat, a program, maybe toasts, or if it’s time to dance, and can adjust the energy level and atmosphere based on the event's needs in real time. A DJ would be a huge benefit for panel style presentations as well so that they can coordinate multiple microphones at once for all speakers.
For Bands: · A stage is not required. There are 3 independent 20watt amps in the Front Room. If more power is needed, the band must bring their own extension cords and gaff tape (duct tape, painters' tape, etc. are NOT allowed). We do not have a dressing room for the band. Band vehicles must park their vehicle in the back of the Duke Center for Child and Family Health parking lot. The Cookery is not responsible for the needs in the bands rider. Please contact The Cookery with any questions!

Transportation
If you would like to provide transportation for your guests, below are several preferred transportation companies that offer a variety of vehicles for your event needs. You may view their fleet options showing passenger capacities via their websites. Please contact them directly for availability and initial quotes.
If a professional transportation company is out of your budget, no worries as The Cookery is only a short Uber ride away from our preferred hotels! Attendees could book their own rides through the Uber app or take advantage of their Voucher Feature could be a great fit for you and your guests. Lyft has a similar feature called Lyft Pass for organizations as well!
For Full Ground rentals on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, valet is included in your rental! Valet is not an option for Monday - Friday rentals before 6pm. If you would like to inquire about adding valet services for an evening weekday event, please contact your event lead via your HoneyBook Project portal.
A huge benefit of hosting your event at The Cookery is how accessible we are to downtown. We are just outside of downtown, so you do not hear the hustle and bustle of our city, but we’re close enough to many hotel options and post-event activities. The following hotels do not offer shuttle services, however group room rates are available! Please call them directly to set up a room block.
