Promising Forever

On a sunny August day, this couple said “I Do” in front of their closest friends and family in the stunning Duke University Chapel. With newlywed smiles on their faces, the two walked around campus to enjoy a mild North Carolina summer day and snap some shots as husband and wife before heading over to The Cookery for a traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony and beautiful reception!

Tea Time

Between exchanging vows and dancing the night away, this loving couple gathered with their families in The Cookery’s dressing suite for an intimate Chinese wedding tea ceremony to celebrate the union of their two families. The newlyweds were able to show their respect and gratitude for their parents, in-laws, and elders by serving them tea. In return, their families shared advice and granted their blessings to the new couple – some, by gifting them “hóngbāo,” beautiful red envelopes containing money.

Gathering Over Dinner and Drinks

Guests got the party started in the front room as drinks started flowing and the couple arrived, greeting a crowd of all their favorite people. Family and friends gathered in our ballroom at long tables adorned with Chinese knot tassels, vibrant red napkins, and gold-rimmed plates.

Greenhouse Picker Sisters has an extensive collection of beautifully curated vintage pieces that look great in all of our spaces!

Attention to All the Details

We love when couples add their own flair to our space – like adding vintage lounge sets, using this antique safe in the front room for table assignments, or decorating the mezzanine (aren’t those lanterns the cutest?!).

Each and every one of these bright red and gold details were selected with such care – starting from the bride’s bouquet and the groom’s tie, to the table seat numbers and name tags, to the gorgeous table setting.

Dancing the Night Away

After a delicious dinner, guests made their way from the ballroom into the front room to grab another drink at the bar and enjoy a slice of cake. The newlyweds hit the floor for their first dance as husband and wife, and it wasn’t long until everyone else joined in the fun for a night they’ll never forget.

I Wanna Dance

With Somebody

The best part of the night is when the couple starts to dance like no one is watching!
